Mayhew Banks

Mr. Mayhew Banks, age 75, a resident of 335 Fayrewinds Drive, Blounts Creek, died Tuesday at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Eddie Bowen. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Warren Memorial Cemetery in Blounts Creek.

Mr. Banks was born in Beaufort County on July 18, 1937, to the late Mayo McKinley Banks and Estelle Connie Wainwright Banks. On July 4, 1990, Mr. Banks married Linda Faye Fisher Banks, who survives. Mr. Banks served his country in the United States Army, retiring after 21 years of service. He served in Japan, South Korea and served two tours in Germany and Vietnam. After his retirement from the Army, Mr. Banks worked for Singer Furniture Company and Lowes of Washington. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

In addition to his wife Linda, of the home, Mr. Banks is survived by a daughter; Karla Perry and husband Doug of Washington, NC, step daughters; Denese Midyette of Washington, NC, Anessia Hammonds of Vanceboro, NC and Amy Woolard of Washington, NC, a brother; Jack Banks of Chocowinity, NC, a sister; Barbara Banks of Seven Springs, NC, a granddaughter; Madison Perry, step grandchildren; Megan Midyette, Emily Midyette, Matt Hammonds, Michael Warren, Don Woolard and Samantha Woolard, a special aunt; Mary Fleming of Blounts Creek and many special cousins.

Mr. Banks is also survived by his Billy K Campground family and his best buddies; Bear and Pixie.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Banks is preceded in death by a brother; Floyd Banks and two sisters; Loretta Ward and Brenda Squires.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at Mr. Bank’s home or the home of, his daughter; Karla Perry, 2680 Gallberry Road, Washington.
