Despite the looming threat of Tropical Storm Andrea, officials with the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce say as many of the scheduled Washington Summer Festival events as can go on, will go on if possible.

According to the Chamber’s business manager, and festival organizer, Robin McKeithan, the Chamber will be watching the weather and canceling events as necessary.

“We’re still hoping that Craig (Woolard) will play … same with the fireworks,” McKeithan said.

She said Summer Festival vendors have been told they can check in on Saturday morning if they cannot safely set up on Friday. Regularly scheduled events for the rest of the weekend, including the North Carolina Symphony performance on Sunday evening, remain in place, said McKeithan.
