Leland Gibbs Jr.

Leland Gibbs, Jr., 68, of 805 Beulah Road, Scranton died Sunday June 16, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

Born in Hyde County, September 21, 1944 he was the son of the late Leland, Sr. and Myrtle Armstrong Gibbs. He was married to the former Carolyn Sawyer who survives.

Leland was a member of Eunice Chapel Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and taught the adult Sunday school. He enjoyed mechanic work, visiting with people and serving the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Eunice Chapel Church of Christ. G.C. Richards and Thomas Biggs will officiate. Burial will follow in Soule Cemetery at a later date.

Surviving in addition to this wife is a sister Helen G.  Steptoe and husband J.W. of Scranton.

He was preceded in death by a son John David Price; three brothers Bill Gibbs, Ray Gibbs, Arthur Bell Gibbs; four sisters Willie Mae Bailey, Margaret G. Berry, Doris Gibbs and Linda G. Morris.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
