James “Garland” Holliday

Mr. James Garland Holliday, age 62, a resident of 87 Water Street, Aurora, NC died Tuesday August 27, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital of Washington.
A celebration of Garland’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday August 31, 2013 at Aurora United Methodist Church officiated by Pastor George Daniels. A private burial will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Mr. Garland was born in Granville County on July 24, 1951 son of the late Roland Garland Holliday and Gladys Conner Holliday who survives. He was a 1969 graduate of Bertie High School in Windsor and continued his education in the community college systems. On August 24, 1985 he married the former Candace Elizabeth Batton who survives. Garland retired from Potash Corp., Aurora, NC as a machinist having dedicated thirty two years to the company.
Surviving along with Garland’s wife Candace of the home and mother Gladys Holliday of Windsor are his children: Christopher B. Holliday of Aulander, Kimberly H. Turner and husband Chris of Sunbury, Joseph R. Wilder and wife Danni of Parkinson, QLD Australia, Bridgett W. Bonner and husband Kevin of Aurora and David B. Wilder and wife Elena of Grantsboro; a brother: Michael K. Holliday; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center c/o Patient Assistance Fund, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
