Lt. Col. (ret) Kenneth Brown Wheeler, 70, of Greenville and Bath died Thursday, September 12, 2013.
A casual, outdoor celebration of Kinky’s Life will be held at 14 South Teach’s Point Rd., Bath, NC at 2 pm, Tuesday, September 17, 2013.  (One mile east of Bath; right at Teach’s Point Rd.; log cabin at the end of the road.)
Mr. Wheeler, a native of Martin County, was a graduate of East Carolina University.  He retired from the Student Financial Aid Office at East Carolina University and the United States Army Reserves.
He was preceded in death by his father, Moses Paran Wheeler, Sr., his mother, Ruth Jenkins Wheeler Bowen, and a brother, Moses Paran Wheeler, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beverley Powell Wheeler; step-father, Luther Wilson Bowen, Jr.; mother in-law, Mary Meade Powell; two nephews, Marshall Wheeler and Michael Powell; niece, Eleanor Morgan; one great nephew, two great nieces; three godchildren; and one great godchild.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Creative Living Center, 901 Staton Rd., Greenville, NC 27834 or to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 37, c/o Al Rice, 2805 Cemetery Rd., Greenville, NC 27858.
