For the second year in a row, dedicated volunteers will part with antiques and collectibles to save a piece of Bath’s history.
The second-annual tag sale will be held in the yard of the Glebe house at the corner of Craven and Main streets and the NOE building next door at 101 Craven St. The sale starts at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Glebe house is a 19th-century home owned by the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina and used by members of the adjacent St. Thomas Episcopal Church for meetings and Bible study.
Funds raised will go toward the ongoing restoration efforts of Glebe house. The project is being completed in phases as money is raised and grants are awarded.
“This is the way we make the bulk of our money for the restoration of the Glebe house,” said Bea Latham, a Bath historian and member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. “There are different little projects, but all are for the restoration.”
Because this is more than just an ordinary yard sale, organizers will once again offer a sneak peek today, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Admission to tonight’s presale is $15 per person or $25 per couple. The presale will also offer an opportunity to purchase gift baskets personalized for any interest, any price range and any occasion.
Free refreshments will be served at the presale. Volunteers will be selling baked goods, sausage wraps and coffee at Saturday’s sale.
“We were very successful last year. We’re hoping for a bigger and better year this year,” Latham said.
