Mr. Virgil Lee Smith, age 68, a resident of 1341 Carrow Road, Chocowinity, NC died Thursday October 3, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday October 9, 2013 at Pinewood Memorial Park of Greenville. The service will be officiated by Rev. Ola Forbes. Pallbearers will be Al Smith, Eric Buck, Eric Smith, Brian Smith, Alex Langley and Zach Langley. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Hardison and Trey Alligood.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM Tuesday October 8, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
Mr. Smith was born in Beaufort County on August 12, 1945 son of the late William Albert Smith and the late Velma Lee Clark Smith. He was a self-employed plumber and a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church in Chocowinity.
Survivors include two sons: Mark Anthony Smith and William Scott Smith both of Chocowinity; two daughters: Teresa Langley and husband Ben and Dorothy Alligood and husband Donald, Jr. all of Chocowinity; a brother: John Smith of Chocowinity; four sisters: Earsel Holland of Highland Springs, VA, Nell Godfrey of Goldsboro, Sylvia Ingalls of Chocowinity and Debbie Cartwright of Chocowinity and ten grandchildren. Mr. Smith was predeceased by two brothers: Gene Smith and Larry Smith.
