CARAWAN

Mrs. Bessie Virginia Clark Carawan, age 86, a resident of 416 Carawan Rd., Chocowinity, died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at her home.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Rev. Henry Horne. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Her grandsons, great grandsons and great-great grandson will serve as pallbearers. Her granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

Mrs. Carawan was born in Beaufort County on November 4, 1926 to the late Oscar and Laura McRoy Clark. On December 8, 1943 she married Dennis Windell Carawan who preceded her in death on May 18, 1999. She was employed in retail sales for many years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Carawan was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include one son, Dennis Windell Carawan, Jr. and wife Geraldine of Washington, three daughters, Janet C. Williams and husband Eddie of Chocowinity, Teresa Hoffman of Chocowinity, Gail Carawan of Chocowinity, six grandchildren, Levie Hardy, Wanda Mayo, Susan Cordon, Trent Carawan, Steele Hoffman, Layla Hoffman, five great grandchildren, Joshua Mayo, Kaitlynn Mayo, Scott Hardy, Cody Cordon, Jeremy Cordon, one great-great grandson, Tanner Carawan and one brother, Johnnie Clark of Chocowinity. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tommy Hoffman, two brothers, Snodie Clark, Eddie Clark and one sister, Ruby Linton.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
