Arthur Lee Cook, age 62, a resident of Deer Track Drive, Washington, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. There will be a graveside celebration of his life, with military honors, Monday, November 18 at 11:00 AM in Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Pastor Danny Barrow. Darlene Winman, Kenny Keighley, Nicholas Baker, Brian Baker, and Ricky Ray Harrington will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends today from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC.

 

Arthur was born March 16, 1951 in Wilson, son of the late Willie and Dorothy Lockemy Cook. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. On October 25, 1980 he married Sylvia Ann Harrington Cook who survives. Arthur worked as a carpenter and also worked with Singleton & Sons as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the American Legion and a past member of Diamond City Hunting Club.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepsons, Nicholas Ray Baker of Pinetown and Brian Keith Baker of North Providence, RI; his brothers, Willie Cook of Ayden and Ray Cook of Black Jack; his sisters, Vickie Daniels of Grifton, Betty Lou Combs of Greenville, Carol Bostic of Ayden and Shelby Dupree of Ayden; and his stepgrandson, Nicholas Thomas Baker.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Cook.
