Mr. Henry Snead Hoffman, beloved son of the late William H. and Virginia S. Hoffman, passed away early Friday, November 22, 2013 at River Trace Nursing Home in Beaufort County, North Carolina.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Virginia S. Hoffman of Phoebus, Hampton, Va., a brother, David Hoffman of Hampton, Va., a sister and brother in law, Dora H. and Elmer B. “Red” Brinson of Washington, N.C., and a niece, Laura Hoffman of Hampton, Va.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins who all reside in Hampton, Virginia.
Henry moved to Washington, N.C. to be with his sister after the death of his parents and spent most of his adult life in Washington. Henry became an actively involved member of B.C.D.C. Day Center and enjoyed all the activities associated with that program. He later became a permanent resident of B.C.D.C.’s Group Home #7 where he received the best of care and regularly attended 15th Street Church of God. One of his favorite outings was to attend the Saturday Night Jamboree, but he enjoyed all the outings they provided to him. He loved the outdoors, kids, telling stories, even if they were true or not. Henry was always joking around, always happy and enjoyed life. Henry was very helpful with chores and enjoyed yard work.
Henry spent the last two years at River Trace Nursing Home in Beaufort County, North Carolina. He was still the comedian of the bunch and helpful to the staff when he could be. Everyone who was around him, rather it be friends, family or caregivers, fell in love with him. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff of Beaufort County Group Home and River Trace Nursing Home for the wonderful services and care that was provided to Henry while under their care. We cannot thank you enough for all you have done for Henry and the family. God Bless you all. Henry will be sadly missed by many, but forever healed and safe in the hands of our Almighty God.
