Donald Ray Purser

Mr. Donald Ray Purser, age 70, a resident of 57 Chandler Road, Chocowinity, NC, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, NC.
A funeral service will be held 2:00p.m Saturday, December, 21, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Rev. Henry Horne. David Elks, Carl Elks, Ricky Jones, I.H. Edwards, Mike Purser and Billy Purser will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Purser was born in Beaufort County on May 13, 1943 to the late Charlie B. Purser and Mary Jane Buck Purser. He graduated from Farm Life High School in Vanceboro, NC in May of 1961. Mr. Purser was married to Brenda Boyd Purser, who survives. Mr. Purser owned and operated Donald’s Body Shop in Vanceboro. His passion was restoring 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevrolets and showing them.
In addition to his wife, of the home, Mr. Purser is survived by a step son, Buddy Smith and wife Kim of Vanceboro, a grandson, Dillon Smith of Vanceboro, a brother, Garland Purser of Vanceboro, one sister, Mary Jo Purser Mills of Arapahoe, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Purser is preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Purser Toler and three brothers, Mathew Travis Purser, Charlie H. Purser and James Edward Purser.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 7:00p.m.-9:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home located at 57 Chandler Road, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Post Office Box 38, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
