Ottis Ray Lewis

Mr. Ottis Ray Lewis, 82, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013.
A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 pm in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Lewis, a native of Craven County, had been a resident of Greenville for 28 years. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a gas pump inspector with the State of North Carolina, retiring in 1984. He also worked with F. Ray Moore Oil Co. for 24 years and was a volunteer fireman for 20 years. He was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and loved bingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse David and Esther Taylor Lewis; and step-great-grandson, Taylor Lee Haddock.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Garris Lewis; daughter, Sherry Jefferson and husband Jesse Jr.; son, Ottis Ray Lewis, Jr., both of Washington; stepson, Marvin Haddock; granddaughters, Jesselynn and Jessica Jefferson, both of Washington; stepgrandson, Scott Haddock; stepgreat-grandsons, Michael and Scottie Haddock; brother, Archie Lewis, of Vanceboro; and sisters, Gertrude Tripp, of New Bern and Hazel Mills, of Black Jack.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 2 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
