Mrs. Mary Alligood Smith Toler, age 83, a resident of 742 Tripp Road, Blounts Creek, NC died Tuesday morning, January 14, 2014.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 17 at 2:00 PM at Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Chuck Owens. Burial will follow in Warren Memorial Cemetery. Robert Paramore III, Bryant Paramore, Brandon Smith, Allan Smith and Kelly Smith will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral and other times at her home.
Mrs. Toler was born in Beaufort County on February 14, 1930, daughter of the late Jarvis Daniel Alligood and Lena Willis Alligood. She married Arthur Mack Smith who preceded her in death on January 12, 1989. She married James Luther Toler on February 14, 2001 who survives. Mrs. Toler was employed in the accounting department at Hamilton Beach. She was a member of Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, James Luther of the home, she is survived by her sons: Charles L. Smith and wife, Joann and Randy L. Smith and wife, Eva both of Blounts Creek; her sister: Emily Alligood Stewart and husband Bill of Milton, FL; her stepchildren: Wayne Toler and wife Cathy; Shadie Toler and wife Wanda and Mike Toler and wife Debbie all of Ernul and Jimmy Toler and wife Pam of Greenville; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by William Albert “Billy” Hodges of Jacksonville, FL who was raised in her parents’ home as a brother. In addition to her first husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved daughter: Judy S. Paramore; sisters: Vera Alligood Hodges, Audrey Alligood Sikes, Sibyl Alligood Orlikey, Ruth Alligood Lane and Martha Alligood McRoy; brothers: Melvin Alligood, James Alligood, Vandy Alligood, and Merrill Alligood; and one stepson: Raymond Toler.
