On Wednesday, March 5th Pocosin Arts hosted a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Riverside Studio and Lodge. Those in attendance included Pocosin Arts founding director Feather Phillips, past and current board members, and Pocosin Arts supporters. The guests were invited to tour the finished building, enjoy a presentation of images of the progress of the building from its inception to its completion, and to come together as a community to in celebration for all of the hard work and dedication put forth by so many to bring the project to fruition. Pocosin Arts Executive Director, Marlene True, was particularly moving during her speech where she detailed her experience at Pocosin Arts through the years, her eventual decision to move to Columbia, and the special relationship she developed with her mentor and friend Feather Phillips. Following the ribbon cutting the guests were invited to a reception in the main hall of the lodge to enjoy some light refreshment in the presence of an elegant and understated center piece donated by Yeopim flowers of Hertford North Carolina. In the end it was a touching and heartfelt thank you to the community as much filled with reflection on the past as with promise for the future.
