PATRICIA K. MANNING
May 1, 2014
Patricia Kennedy Manning passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 9:35 am at the Davis Community in Wilmington.
Born September 27, 1932 in Louisville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Clifton Churchill and Mary Ann (Hoarty) Kennedy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, CSM Reginald Turning Manning, Sr. Her work as a part-time claims representative for Prudential Financial Services should be noted, but her life was not her work. She was a loving, dedicated Army wife, and mother to her children and “Bama” to her grandchildren. She is best remembered for her political interests, fried chicken and fish, her eternal willingness to be a wonderful friend to others and her bright blue eyes that lit up and danced when she talked. And anyone that knew her could attest to her gift of gab. What made her most special was not only that she immediately made you feel comfortable and welcomed, but the way she tirelessly and intently listened to people. Always and selflessly she truly cared about those she came in contact with, especially the ones she loved.
Surviving are her three children, stepdaughter Melanie Holshouser and Husband, David, of Suffolk, Va.; Son, Reginald Manning, Junior and Wife, Tiffany, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Daughter Patti Riddle and Husband, Christian, of Wilmington; Four Granddaughters, Emily Frances and Laura Anne Holshouser of Suffolk, Ashlyn Taylor and Addison Turner Manning of Myrtle Beach; One Grandson, Finnegan Manning Riddle of Wilmington; a sister, Nonie Tracy of Elida, Ohio; as well as nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Her family will receive friends at Walker Funeral Home in Williamston located at 414 N. Haughton St at 1 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to The Davis Community Bedside Therapeutic Music Program, 1011 Porters Neck Road, Wilmington, N.C. 28411.
