At 1:00 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 2014, Marjorie Ann Boyd nee Waters nee Hagy passed away peacefully at Duke University Medical Center attended at the bedside by close family, with the sure and certain knowledge in her faith that it was her time to be called. She lived a life of strength, beauty, grace, and generosity, and was beloved by many.
Marjorie Ann was born at home in Pinetown, North Carolina, on December 15, 1932. In 1948 she married C. S. (Boots) Waters and moved to Durham, North Carolina, where she started a family and began a career with the American Tobacco Company. She enjoyed a long and successful working life at the American Tobacco Company and formed life-long friendships, which endure to this day, in particular Lula Mangum and Rose Watson both of Durham. In 1984 she retired back to her hometown of Pinetown, NC, with her second husband Donald (Dick) Hagy. Marjorie Ann is survived by Dick, her only daughter Linda Waters Daniels of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Colin Yuri Daniels of Tacoma, Washington, and Jennifer Daniels Shue of Stafford, Virginia; as well as four cherished great-grandchildren Cassandra Amber Daniels, Jesse Colin Daniels, Austin Matthew Daniels, and Emlyn Adelle Shue. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Kenneth Boyd of Washington, James Russel Boyd of Pinetown, MaryLou Boyd Harris of Pantego, and Gloria Boyd Franklin of Hillsborough.
A service celebrating her rewarding and vivacious life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 16, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, North Carolina, where family and friends will be received, with burial at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home in Washington, as well as other times at their home 5069 North Boyd Rd, Pinetown.
The service will be conducted by Preacher David Young of Five Points Free Will Baptist Church. All friends and family are welcome.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made in Marjorie Ann’s name to the Five Points FWB Church.
