Guy Burbage Whitley
May 20, 1935 – May 15, 2014

Mr. Guy Burbage Whitley, age 78, a resident of the Treasure Point Dr., Bath, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 15, 2014. There will be a celebration of his life at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 24, at Harvest Church, officiated by Pastor Tad Tankard. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at the home.

Mr. Whitley was born May 20, 1935 in Beaufort County, son of the late Robert & Beatrice Burbage Whitley. He was a 1953 graduate of Bath High School and 1958 graduate Roanoke Bible College. On November 23, 1991 Guy married Grace Ann Whitley who survives. He was a missionary to Jamaica from 1958 to 1975 working in Kingston, Clairmont and St. Ann’s Bay. He pastored the New Testament Church after he returned from Jamaica. Guy was retired from Lee Tractor Co. and also was formerly the owner of the Wood Stove Shop, the Chimney Sweep, Jack’s Lawn Care and Pamlico Sanitation. He was a member of Harvest Church and founded the Christian Men’s Breakfast which met on Thursday’s.

In addition to his wife, Guy is survived by his stepson, Jackson Edward Tennis of Bath; his brother, Robert W. Whitley and wife Reba of Washington; his sister, Dona Apple of Washington; his sister-in-law, Audrey Whitley; and his grandson, Logan Edward Carr.

In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by his sister, Myra Joyce and brother, Thomas Whitley.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Guy’s memory may be made to Harvest Church for United Lifeline Church (Jamaica) or Harvest Church for Children’s Fund, 2020 W. 15th St., Washington, NC 27889.
