LEADERSHIP: From March 2013 to May 2014, Mattamuskeet Elementary School Principal, Major Coleman, represented Hyde County Schools by participating in and successfully completing the North Carolina Principals’ and Assistant Principals’ Distinguished Leadership in Practice (DLP) program. The program is a non-traditional professional development model that allows participants to critically examine the meaning and application of “distinguished” school leadership through a problem-based, real world approach. This training provides additional knowledge that will help each participant become a more effective principal and educational leader. Executive Director, Shirley Prince also extended a thank you to the Hyde County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Randolph Latimore on behalf of NCPAPA for supporting their programs and allowing Mr. Coleman to participate. She said, “we hope there will be others from your school system in future cohort groups”.
