Elaine Briley, Chairman of “Our Amazing Race” and Dot Moate, show off the red, white and blue bird house that will be posted at or near any challenge station during the race.

Friends, relatives and the entire community are invited to come out and join the fun Saturday at the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce building at 9 a.m. Take time and follow some of the 20 teams participating in the first “Our Amazing Race,” a charitable fundraising event to support Ruth’s House, Inc., a safe place for victims of domestic violence.

Our Amazing Race is patterned after the TV reality show, “The Amazing Race.” Participants must solve clues to locate challenge stations, located within a ten-mile radius of the waterfront and Festival Park. You can be part of the excitement! Once the race has begun, the public will be given information on routes and locations to be able to watch the teams as they complete various physical, mental and fun/adventure challenges.

The finish line will be at Festival Park, near the gazebo…watch for signs. After the race begins you may pick up maps at the chamber and businesses downtown, including Ruth’s House Antiques & More at 140 W. Main Street. www.ouramazingracebc.net
