BETTY GRAY | CONTRIBUTED
D-DAY SITE: In 2008, Betty Gray and her husband, Rick, visited various historical sites of D-Day in Normandy, France. The two visited sites, including the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, Point du Hoc and Utah Beach. Pictured is at Arrmonches-les-Bains overlooking the remains of Mulberry Harbour, a portable temporary harbor developed by the British during World War II to facilitate rapid offloading of cargo onto the beaches during the Allied invasion of Normandy. Today marks the 70th anniversary of the June 6, 1944 invasion of Normandy to liberate Vichy France from the German Nazi regime.
