Raleigh – Governor Pat McCrory has proclaimed June 14-22, 2014, as “Week for the Animals” in North Carolina.
North Carolina Week for the Animals brings together community organizations, animal welfare organizations, libraries, wildlife centers, educational agencies and animal shelters to celebrate the joy, love and service that animals bring to our lives.
“As strong advocates of the protection of North Carolina pets from mistreatment, Ann and I believe this week will generate further support for the safety of animals,” said Governor McCrory. “North Carolina is heading in the right direction toward greater protection of animals.”
North Carolina Week for the Animals highlights the importance of adopting animals from shelters, spaying and neutering pets, volunteering for an organization, providing resources to community organizations and promoting responsible pet ownership. During North Carolina Week for the Animals, the lives of companion animals will be saved at numerous adoption events, through low-cost, spay-neuter opportunities and educational activities.
