CHARLES L. TOLER, JR.

May 7, 1946 – June 28, 2014

 

Mr. Charles Lee Toler, Jr. age 68, a resident of New Bern, NC died Saturday June 28, 2014 at Carolina East Medical Center of New Bern.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday June 30, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Michael Ledbetter.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Carl Barwick, Claude Banks, Scott Banks, Bryan McIntire, David Davenport and Chris Frye.

The family will receive friends 6 pm to 7:30 PM Sunday June 29, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mr. Toler was born in Beaufort County on May 7, 1946 son of the late Charles L. Toler, Sr. and the late Sallie Blount Godley Toler.  He was a 1964 graduate of Chocowinity High School and continued his education at ECU.  Mr. Toler married the former Myrtle Corey on July 23, 2006 who survives.  He was a retired owner/operator of furniture sales and auto sales businesses.   Mr. Toler was instrumental in the reopening of the Chocowinity United Methodist Church in 1983 and served as Lay Leader for the congregation.  As a former member of the Beaufort County Community College Board of Trustees he served as chairman.  He was a member of the Chocowinity FFA alumni and attended Silver Creek Free Will Baptist Church of Pelletier, NC.

Surviving along with his wife Myrtle of the home is a daughter: Cheryl Lee Noe and her husband Hilton of Washington; a son: Willie C. Toler and his wife Elaine of Chocowinity; two step-children: Melissa Mayse and her husband Harvey of
Stella, NC and Bryan McIntire of Creswell, NC; two sisters: June Arnold and her husband Ray of Chocowinity and Mary Helen Barwick of New Bern; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Mr. Toler was preceded in death, along with his parents, by a son: Charles “Charlie” Lee Toler, III.
