Dexter S. Wheaton

Mr. Dexter Stuart Wheaton, age 88, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Pastor James Greene.

Mr. Wheaton was born in Massachusetts on January 18, 1926.  He was the son of the late Grover and Anna Wheaton.  Mr. Wheaton was a retired telephone installer with Verizon.  He served in the U.S. Air Force.  Mr. Wheaton attended Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir.

On July 14, 2005, he married the former Dorothy Cahoon, who survives.

Survived with his wife are three children, Susan Crowteau, Betty Bartz and Raymond Wheaton all of Virginia Beach, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church, 1600 Highland Drive, Washington, N.C.  27889.
