PAMLICO SAIL & POWER SQUADRON | CONTRIBUTED CREATIVE CONTEST: The Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron, as part of their outreach to educate youths, has conducted a workshop for children in three age categories (6-8, 9-11 and 12-14) to create a poster that could earn them local recognition and the possibility of awards. The winners in each age category will go to our District Squadron and those winners to our National Meeting where first, second and third place winners will be chosen and awarded $150, $100 and $75 in each age category. The goal is to further youth appreciation of water and the importance of safe boating. The theme this year was the Importance of Wearing Life Jackets. PSPS conducted a short education program and poster workshop with the Boys & Girls Club in Washington on Aug. 4 and will be returning on Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. to present the winner in each age category for those children who submitted a poster.
