CLEATA LINTON ARMSTRONG ROACH

April 16, 1936 – Aug. 31, 2014

 

Mrs. Cleata Linton Armstrong Roach, age 78, a resident of the Ponzer Community of Belhaven died Sunday August 31, 2014 at Vidant Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head, NC.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday September 4, 2014 at Mount Olive Church of Christ officiated by Scott Askew.  Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery.  Thomas Biggs, Travis Biggs, Terry McCall, Stanley Hopkins, Wayne Hopkins and Stevie Gibbs will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Roach was born April 16, 1936 in Hyde County, daughter of the late John William Linton and Bettie Quidley Linton.  She was a 1954 graduate of Pantego High School.  Mrs. Roach was married to Melvin Armstrong who preceded her in death on July 31, 1970.  On June 25, 1977, she married William “Bill” Franklin Roach who survives.  She was a member of Mount Olive Church of Christ and co-owner/operator of “Our Other Place” in Washington, NC and “Pungo Refuge Nursery & Greenhouses” in Pungo, NC.

In addition to her husband, Bill Roach of the home, she is survived by her children: Doug Armstrong and wife Martha of Belhaven and Felicia Armstrong Fennimore and husband Bob of Belhaven; her grandchildren: Melvin Armstrong Jr. & wife Gretchen and Abigail Armstrong Marshall & husband Brian; her great grandchildren: Vivian Marshall and Hazel Armstrong and her sister: Mary Hopkins of Kill Devil Hills, NC.  She is preceded in death by her brothers:  Sherman Linton and Paul Linton.

Visitation will be held at Mount Olive Church of Christ from 9:00-10:30 AM on Thursday prior to the service.
