Mr. Morris Lee Garrett, 84, of 2748 Woodlawn Road, Roper, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Washington.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at First Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Minister Robert Watts officiating. Burial will follow in First Zion Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Garrett was born April 17, 1930 in Washington County. He was the son of the late William Lee Garrett and Mary Dixon Garrett. He was a member of First Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Veteran of the United States Army, member of Brotherhood Club and retired employee of Weyerhauser (Domtar).
Surviving him are his wife of 60 years, Mattie L. Garrett—of the home; sons-Raymond Garrett of Brooklyn, N.Y., Danny Bruce Garrett of Roper; Darryl Lee Garrett of Roper, Michael Riddick of Raleigh; daughters-Yvette Davenport of Plymouth, Sharon Garrett of Wake Forest, Ora Lee Jones of Plymouth, Elyn Jones of Baltimore, MD, Tina Garrett of Rocky Mount and ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at Toodle’s Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the home.
