MORAN E. JOHNSON

Sept. 10, 1938 – Sept. 20, 2014

 

Mr. Moran Eugene Johnson, age 76, a resident of Chocowinity, died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 9:00 AM Friday, October 10, 2014 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Mr. Johnson was born in Maplesville, Alabama on September 10, 1938.  He was the son of the late Marvin Bert Johnson and Ruth Hale Johnson.  Mr. Johnson was a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, serving 24 years.   After his military career, he worked for Red Lobster and the United States Forestry Service.  In his spare time, Mr. Johnson loved fishing, hunting and camping.

Mr. Johnson was married to the former Donna Lee Reeves, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Edward Johnson and wife, Alexis of Asheville, N.C., and Michael Johnson of Chocowinity.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Johnson.
