BENNY SPROUSE

April 1, 1955 – Nov. 9, 2014

 

Mr. Benny Ray “Wild Boy” Sprouse, age 59, a resident of 1002 Possum Track Road, Chocowinity, NC died Sunday November 9, 2014 at his home.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday November 12, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Jonathan Dixon.  Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.  Phillip Peachey, Jr., Ricky Dickinson, Warren Brinn, Kevin Ward, Kevin Tetterton, Greg Waters, Danny Bright and Craig Glancy will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday November 11, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at Benny’s home and shop located at 1002 Possum Track Road, Chocowinity.

Benny was born in Augusta County, VA on April 1, 1955 son of the late Robert Sprouse and the late Mary Jane Simmons Sprouse.  He attended Pantego High School.  On March 8, 1974 he married the former Barbara Ann Dickinson who preceded him in death on February 6, 2008.  He was a very talented diesel mechanic who owned his own business, Wild Boy’s Place Inc., located in Chocowinity.  Benny was a down to earth good man and hard worker who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.  He was a friend to not only his family but to many and treated all equally.  Benny had a special love of animals of any kind.

Survivors include a daughter: Lisa Sprouse Boyd and husband Steven of Wake Forest; a son: David W. Sprouse and wife Bobby Jo of Chocowinity; five brothers: Lee Sprouse of Laurinburg, NC, Robert Junior Sprouse of Belhaven, Boyd Sprouse of Washington, Kenny Sprouse of Belhaven and Johnny Sprouse of Wanchese; four sisters: Betty Sue Russ of Pantego, Patricia Sprouse Waters of Washington, Joanie Hardison of Jamesville and Patricia Trueslowe of Virginia; four grandchildren: Abigail Sprouse, Dillon Sprouse, Ashley Sawyer and Nolan Sawyer.  Benny was predeceased by three brothers: Clayton, William and Cary Sprouse.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorials to be made to the Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 8, Washington, NC 27889.
