Mrs. Glenda Edwards Landen, age 69, a resident of 75 Cypress Shores Road, Washington, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Rev. Owen Arthur. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Richard Potter, Stanley Edwards, Jamie Landen, Kenny Ray Bradley, Don Hill and Ira Wheaton will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
Mrs. Landen was born in Beaufort County on April 23, 1945, daughter of the late Robert Preston Edwards and the late Callie Mae O’Neal Edwards. She was a graduate of Bethel High School. On March 2, 1962, she married James Thomas “Tom” Landen who survives. Along with her husband, they were the former owners and operators of Pocahontas Trading Post and the Mecca Pool Room, both of Washington. She was a member of Memorial Free Will Baptist Church of Chocowinity.
Surviving along with her husband Tom of the home are three sons: James Thomas Landen Jr. and wife Donnell of Washington, Joseph Preston Landen and wife Christy of Spring Hill, Fla., and Michael Scott Landen and wife Dawn of Washington; a brother: Stuart Edwards and his wife Alice of Cheyenne, Wyo.; five grandchildren: Jamie Landen, Kayla Landen, Kyanna Landen, Callie Landen and Kennedy Landen and two nieces: Dawn Donovan and Diane Norris. Mrs. Landen was predeceased by two grandchildren: Donald Landen and Jillian Hope Landen.
