Mary Etta Floyd Watson, age 86, a resident of 201 Haven Way S., Washington, NC went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 24, 2014. Mary Etta was born in Beaufort County on March 17, 1928, daughter of the late Ralph Colman and Mary Elizabeth Mangum Floyd. She was an alumnus of East Carolina University and taught at Chocowinity High School for 24 years as the librarian. On October 22, 1946, Mary and Edward Early Watson, Sr. were married. He preceded her in death in 1971. She was a member of Harvest Church and loved painting, gardening, reading and cooking.
Mary Etta is survived by her son, Edward E. Watson, Jr. and wife Tonna of Washington; her daughter, Linda W. Browning and husband Ed of Washington; her brother, Neal Floyd and wife Ann of Garden City, SC; her grandchildren, Candy Browning Ritzen and husband Chuck, Isaiah Watson, Bethany Lear and husband Rick, Lindsay Richardson and husband Chris, Aaron Watson and wife Sara, Jeremy Watson and wife Susan, and Derek Watson and wife Heather; her great grandchildren, Lauren Howard and husband David, Cole Lear, Isabella Lear, Jaydn Lear, Pheonix Lear, Nicholas Richardson, Gavin Watson, Simon Watson and Jillian Watson; and her great great granddaughter, Lilly Howard.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Floyd Watson.
A celebration of Mary Etta’s life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Harvest Church with Pastor Tad Tankard officiating. Treva Tankard and Harvey Leland will provide special music. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am until the service hour and at other times at the home of Ed and Tonna Watson, 201Haven Way South, Washington, NC. A private interment will be held at Oakdale Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary’s memory to Harvest Church, Childrens Playground Equipment, 2020 W. 15th St., Washington, NC 27889.
