Mrs. Joyce Carrow Pridgen, age 81, a resident of 1246 Pridgen Lane, Washington, NC died Saturday November 29, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 3, 2014 at 15th Street Church of God officiated by Pastor Thomas Lee. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Trae Cherry, Josh Powell, Allen Buck, Solomon Gibbs, Shawn Sutton and Kirk Carrow will serve as pallbearers. Ronnie Buck will be an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday December 2, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
Mrs. Pridgen was born in Beaufort County on October 22, 1933 daughter of the late Lehmon Carrow and the late Artie Bennett Carrow. She was a 1952 graduate of Chocowinity High School. She married William Eldred Pridgen who preceded her in death on February 5, 2009. Mrs. Pridgen was a member of 15th Street Church of God and dedicated her life to God and to her family as a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter: Tammy Pridgen of Washington; three sons: Brian Keith Pridgen and his spouse Ikbal Jumani of Charleston, SC, Ray Watson Pridgen of Washington and William Wesley Pridgen of Washington; a son-in-law: Lee Cherry of Washington; a sister: Melva C. Walter and her husband Richard of Lititz, PA; five grandchildren: Brandy Cherry Powell and her husband Josh of Chocowinity, Rashad Brandon Pridgen, Trae Cherry, Loren Cherry and Aven Harris all of Washington and a great-grandchild: Anna Lee Powell of Chocowinity; two sister-in-laws: Ursula Carrow of Oklahoma and Carolyn Carrow of Washington. Mrs. Pridgen was predeceased by a daughter: Neva Pridgen Cherry; and two brothers: Johnnie Carrow and Jay Carrow.
