Gwendolyn Louise Eborn, affectionately known as “Big Time” or “Sista”, the daughter of the late Hurly “Clump” Eborn and Della Louise Eborn was born in Beaufort County on June 10, 1949. On December 4, 2014, she entered the threshold of eternity into a more glorious life.

Gwen moved to Washington, D.C., shortly after she graduated from Belhaven High School in 1967. She was employed in 1969 with C and P Telephone Company and later employed with Pepco Electric, both in the Washington, D.C. area. She was later employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Bethesda, Maryland, where she retired in 2013. Gwen became ill shortly after retirement.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Christian Tabernacle Church in Washington, D.C. She served as a faithful member for many years until her illness. Gwen was a woman of remarkable faith. She had immediate knowledge of the healing power of God as she was healed of lung cancer and a rare kidney disease. Her strong faith is what sustained her through the years.

One son, Joseph, and her father, Hurley, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Della Louise Eborn; one daughter-in-law, Diane Hardy; three grandchildren, Javon Dwayne Eborn, Janaa Alicia Eborn and Jayani Zoey Eborn of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; three brothers, Hurley of Oxon Hill, MD, Larry (Ranae) of Greensboro, NC, and Nathan of Plymouth, NC; two sisters, Alice Carter of Riverhead, NY and Teresa Eborn Whitney (Al) of Washington, NC. Three very special friends, Shirley Lawson and Marie Ellison of Washington, D.C. and Francie West of Oxon Hill, MD and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Holly Grove Disciples of Christ, Belhaven, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, December 12, 2014 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, NC and other times at the home of her mother, 451 Belhaven Square, Belhaven, NC.
