Elizabeth Modlin Williams, 93, of 2675 U. S. Highway 64-West, Plymouth, died on Monday morning, January 26, 2015, in Plymouth.
Born in Martin County, March 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Johnson and Lula Jackson Modlin. She was married to David G. Williams who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Williams was a devoted member of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Plymouth. She loved church work, enjoyed cooking, gardening and especially loved roses.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church, Plymouth with The Reverend V. Tom Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are two sons, Don Williams and wife, Rebecca of Plymouth and James “Jimmy” Carlton Williams and wife, Jean of Weaverville; daughter-in-laws, Mrs. Dean Williams of Belhaven and Mrs. Marsha Williams of Creswell; a brother, Carl Modlin of Plymouth; eight grandchildren, Brent Williams, John David Williams Justin Williams, Amanda Williams Cole, Heather Williams Gray, Lee Williams, Donna Hickman and Dawn Roberts; six great-grandchildren, Parker Brooks Williams, Harry Hickman, MacKenzie Roberts, Aidan Roberts, MacKenzie Cole and Cedric Ross Williams.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, David Morgan Williams and John Cedric Williams; brothers, Vick Modlin, James Modlin, Linwood Modlin and Grady Modlin.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to First Christian Church, 509 East Main Street, Plymouth, NC 27962 or the church of your choice in her memory.
The family will receive friends at the church during the hour prior to the funeral on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. and other times at the home.
