Erma Cutler Alligood

Mrs. Erma Tetterton Cutler Alligood, age 84, a resident of 101 Bayleaf Plantation, Washington, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, conducted by Dr. Ed Smith and Lee Smith. Burial will follow in Long Acre Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bayleaf Bible Study Group and all other friends from Bayleaf Plantation.
Mrs. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 4, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Charlie B. Tetterton and Edith Gurkin Tetterton. Mrs. Alligood was a homemaker. She also enjoyed working at Guy T. Swindell Jewelers for approximately four years at which time she became a registered bridal consultant. Mrs. Alligood was a member of Long Acre Chapel Christian Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies’ Aide.
Mrs. Alligood was married to William Wade Cutler, who preceded her in death, May 9, 1970. She later married Heber Alligood, who preceded her in death, Jan. 22, 2012.
Mrs. Alligood is survived by her daughter, Carol Cutler of Washington; close family friend, Vickie Coleman of Washington; several nieces and nephews including a niece, who was more like a sister, Lib Lewis of Washington; devoted friend, Lou Horton of Washington; childhood friend and lifelong pal, Helen Baynor; two grandchildren, Dawn Mason of Ponzer, Mandy Edwards of Washington; great granddaughter, Caleigh Mason; great grandson, Connor Edwards and grand dog, Hannah.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Alligood was preceded in death by a son, William Wade Cutler, Jr.; three sisters, Helen Singleton, Evelyn Sanford, and Della Lassiter; a brother, C. B. “Buddy” Tetterton and mother in law, Leila Cutler.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter, Carol Cutler, 406 Northwood Road, Washington.
The family would like to thank caregiver Jackie Jones and hospice nurse Erin Haines for their care and compassion.
