Mrs. Ruth Gee Gay Hodges, age 88, a resident of 156 Water St., Washington, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at Ridgewood Manor in Washington.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Rev. Lee Kinney.
Mrs. Hodges was born in Northampton County on April 16, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Archibald Cree Gay and Ruth Gee Gay. Mrs. Hodges taught school for a short period of time before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she participated in the Women of the Church and the Ladies’ Circles. Mrs. Hodges was also a member of the Stratford Book Club.
Mrs. Hodges was married to Jay McDonald Hodges Jr. who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hodges is survived by two sons, Jay MacDonald “Mac” Hodges and wife, Linda of Washington, Archibald Gay Hodges and wife, Corinne of Auburn, Ala.; one daughter, Anne Hodges Morrisette and husband, Clay, of Kitty Hawk; five grandchildren, Beth H. Fickling, Sara H. Bell, Lauren Morrisette, Reid Hodges, Adaliz Hodges and three great-grandchildren, Gray Fickling, Ruth Bell and Thomas Fickling.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her brother, Archibald Cree Gay.
The family will receive friends at her home, 156 Water Street, Washington.
