Ms. Nancy Shelton “Mitchell”, age 60, a resident of 2305 N. Market St., Washington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at her home.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens of Washington, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Pritchard. Pallbearers will be Eddie Ellison, Eddie Ellison II, Blake Davis, Jerry Davis, Bud Brooks and Ricky Brann.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at her home.

Nancy was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 14, 1954, daughter of the late Marshall Prim Shelton Sr. and the late Lovie Beard Shelton. She worked as a Unit Secretary/Administrative Assistant at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, now Vidant Medical Center, for many years. Later, she retired as a rural mail carrier for the Washington Post Office. Nancy served as a volunteer for the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon and the Ronald McDonald House. She had a love for animals and loved riding horses. Her children and grandchildren were a great joy to her.

Nancy is survived by two daughters: Joy B. Davis, of Washington, and Carol B. Ellison and husband Eddie, of Washington; a brother, John Wesley Shelton, of Washington; a sister, Missy Shelton Sutton, of Washington; three grandchildren, Christina and Eddie Ellison II and Blake Davis; and three nephews, Bo, Thomas and Brantley Sutton.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by a brother, Marshall Prim Shelton Jr., and a niece, Shanna Marie Shaffer.

Memorials may be made to the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital. Please make checks payable to Vidant Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 8489, Greenville, NC 27835 and notate that the donation is for the Maynard Children’s Hospital. Also donations may be made to Harvest Church, Playground fund, 2120 W. 15th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
