A steady rain did not stop more than 100 runners from lining up for the Young Life 5K Glow Race held in downtown Washington last Saturday.

Dawson Cox, 13, of Washington was the overall winner, finishing with a time of 20:18, besting the second place participant by almost a full minute. Mandy Starbuck, 34, of Winterville was the top female participant, notching a time of 25:13.

The race was timed and sanctioned by Run the East using electronic chip technology. More than $10,000 was raised to subsidize summer camp prices for the 75-plus children headed to the Young Life Carolina Point Camp this summer from July 5 to 12.
