Willie Windley Ambrose (Meme), age 80, a resident of Belhaven , NC passed away at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.
Mrs. Ambrose was born in Beaufort County, NC on March 27, 1935 to the late Matthew and Annie Mae Moore Windley.
She was a 1952 graduate of Belhaven High School and was a retired Cafeteria Manager for the Beaufort County School System. In her leisure time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking the family favorites, shopping at Macy’s, watching CNN, The Young & The Restless and her favorite basketball team, the L.A. Lakers.
She was married to Frank Ambrose, Jr. who predeceased her on June 17, 1991. She is survived by her children: one daughter, Regina A. Lewis (Aurdres) of Kernersville, NC; three sons: Franklin J. Ambrose of Capitol Heights, MD, William R. Ambrose (Lisa) of Pinetown, NC and Steve M. Ambrose (Sherri) of Roanoke, VA; one brother, Richard Windley of Virginia Beach, VA; grandsons Steve Ambrose, Jr. of Gulf Port, FL, Adrian Ambrose of Durham, NC, Garrison and Tyler Ambrose of Charlottesville, VA and Justin and Jordan Lewis of Kernersville, NC, and a host of loving family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 at 12:00 noon at The Wilkinson Center, 144 Main Street, Belhaven, NC with Bishop Johnson Hazel officiating. A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Northside Cemetery in Belhaven. George Smith, Eric Hunt, Leon Miller, Tommy Bennett, Tony Ebron, Robert Sanders, Tony Godley and J. Vernon Peterson will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cancer research fund of your choice in Mrs. Ambrose’s name.
