Thelma Boyd Tetterton

Sept. 18, 1919 – July 8, 2015

 

Mrs. Thelma Boyd Tetterton, age 95, a former resident of Pungo Creek Road, Pinetown, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, July 11, 2015 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven, conducted by Pastor Dwight Boyd.   Burial will follow in Yeatesville Cemetery, Pinetown.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  David Tetterton, Derek Gibbs, Stuart Reckord, and Jordan Kelleher.

Mrs. Tetterton was born in Pinetown, N.C. on September 18, 1919.  She was the daughter of the late Arthur Edward Boyd and Ocenia Tisdale Boyd.   Mrs. Tetterton was a homemaker and a good caregiver to her family.  She attended Hunters Bridge Church of Christ for many years.  In her spare time, Mrs. Tetterton love to garden and to cook.

Mrs. Tetterton was married to Dumay Samuel “Tim” Tetterton, who preceded her in death in 1992.

Mrs. Tetterton is survived by two sons, Gregory Tetterton and his wife, Jo Ann of Swan Quarter, Tim Tetterton of Pantego; daughter, Ellen Tetterton Reckord and her husband, Craig of Memphis, TN; four grandchildren, David Tetterton, Jennifer Gibbs, Stuart Reckord, Ali Kelleher; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Cutler Boyd of Washington and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Tetterton was preceded in death by six brothers, Paul Boyd, Arthur Lee Boyd, Nathan Boyd, Jesse Boyd, Archie Boyd, Donald Boyd; and two sisters, Cottie Waters and Margie Bjorklund.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven.
