George A. Sullivan

Mr. George A. Sullivan, age 63, a resident of 978 Harvey Road, Washington, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery on Saturday, July 18, 2015.

The family will receive friends following the service at the Orr Lodge #104 Masonic Lodge, 116 E. 3rd Street, Washington and other times at the home of his parents, 225 Hilltop Lane, Washington.

Mr. Sullivan was born on September 30th, 1951, the son of the late Webster Weldon Sullivan and Laura C. Sullivan of Washington.  Mr. Sullivan graduated from Washington High School in 1969 and continued his education throughout his life.  He retired from NC Emergency Management as Area 7 Coordinator in 2006.  Mr. Sullivan was active in the Boy Scouts of America for 50 years; he retired as camp caretaker at Bonner Scout Reservation in 2014.  Mr. Sullivan was a longtime member of Bunyan Volunteer Fire Department and remained active as long as his health permitted, retiring in 2010.  Mr. Sullivan was a member of Orr Lodge #104 and Duke of Beaufort allied Masonic Degrees.

Mr. Sullivan is survived by his sister Carolyn Sullivan-Strickland and husband Andy, a nephew D. Webster Sullivan, a great nephew D. Weldon Sullivan, and two dear friends, Beverly Stevenson and Laura Shiver.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbra Sullivan Walker.
