Ellen Alligood Oxendine, age 88, a resident of North Chase Nursing and Rehab Center, Wilmington, NC, died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, August 16, 2015 in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and will be officiated by Travis Boyd. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until the service time at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Oxendine was born in Beaufort County on September 10, 1926 to the late Alfred Alligood and Laura Alligood. She was a member of the Beaver Dam Church of Christ. Mrs. Oxendine moved back into the area in 1978.

Survivors include a son: Willie Earl Oxendine of Wilmington, NC; two daughters: Diana Haight of Buffalo, NY, Beatrice Padula of Clemton, NJ; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by six sisters: Nellie Turner, Alma Daniels, Carsie Waters, Elsie Woolard, Bessie Purifoy and Viola Woolard and two brothers: Oliver Alligood and Elijah Alligood.
