Margaret Roughton Bateman, 78, of Columbia died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church, Columbia, with Reverend Timothy Hayes and Dr. Jeff Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church and at other times at the residence.
