Archie Lee Minix Sr.
April 2, 1941 – Sept. 8, 2015

Archie Lee Minix Sr., 74, passed away at home on September 8, 2015. He was born on April 2, 1941 in Pantego, North Carolina. Alumni of Beaufort County High School class of 1959, Archie also attended the University of Maryland where he majored in Business Management, and Antioch School of Law where he obtained a Master’s degree of Science in Legal Studies.

He joined the United States Army where he served for over 20 years until he retired in 1980. Archie then started a career with the Department Of Housing And Urban Development in the field of Security Management where he served another 20 years until 2010. He was an active member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Terra Ceia, North Carolina. Archie was predeceased by his mother, Calmetter Minix-Edwards, grandmother, Lucinda Freeman Minix and brother, Andrew Edwards.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Eldora; sons, Archie L. Minix, Jr. and Gregory W. Minix (Angela); four grandchildren, Jonathan, Jasmine, Joshua, and Jordan; four sisters, Hattie Taylor, LuVonne Edwards, Carolyn Edwards and Roberta Ricks; one aunt, Beatrice Minix; Sister/Cousin, Irene Westbroook; brother/cousins, Willie Warren Simpson and Leroy Simpson; a special niece, Marie Taylor-Baker; adoptive daughter, Natayala Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A service will be held, 12pm, Saturday, September 12, 2015 at New Light Church, 2418 Cedar Road Chesapeake, VA 23323; presiding clergy will be Pastor Reginald Saunders. Burial will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park, 1101 Campostella Road Chesapeake, VA 23320. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Foundation, Rockville chapter, 7507 Standish Pl. Rockville, MD 20855.
