ON THE RUN: Northside runner Braedon Cooper finished Saturday’s Pam Pack Invitational with a time of 20 minutes and 44 seconds.

The Northside cross-country team participated in the Pam Pack Invitational along with 22 other schools on Saturday at Choppy Wagner Stadium.

Northside’s premier male runner Holden Newman is showing a return to last season’s overall performance. He finished eighth overall in a studded field of over 120 runners. Holden improved over last week’s performance by a creditable 1 minute and 40 seconds, finishing in 18 minutes and 40 seconds.

Teammate Braedon Cooper was the next Northside runner to cross the finish line behind Holden, finishing in 20 minutes and 44 seconds. This also was a big improvement of one minute and 22 seconds over his last race. The remaining male runners all bested their previous times and look like they’re poised to start making their presence felt.

Northside girls were again led by Ashley Cullom, who showed an improvement of 2 minutes over her previous time on this same course. However, the most startling result was provided by Allison Waters, who bettered her previous time over this same course by an outlandish 9 minutes. Shana Taylor, Caitlin Johnson, Gwen Lincoln, all improved their course records by 4 minutes each

Gabriella Slade, Samantha Warren, and Lauren Brinson all had mishaps on the course so their times didn’t reflect how hard they really ran this race. Nice going gang and accolades to all.
