Mrs. Bonnie Bell Bland Ellison, age 77, a resident of Market Street Extension, Washington, died Monday, September 21, 2015 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Ware’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 2788 Market Street Extension, Washington, conducted by Pastor Joan Fischer. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Ellison’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers: Christina Ellison, Eddie Ellison II, John Gregory, Timmy Gregory, Eric Gregory, Tina Hardison, Aaron Jones, Jay Hardison and Baxter Wayne Davis Jr.
Mrs. Ellison was born in Beaufort County on April 7, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Raymond H. Bland Sr. and Beulah Cherry Bland. Mrs. Ellison was retired director of Bland’s Rest Home and retired assistant director of Ware’s Chapel United Methodist Church Pre-School. She was a member of Ware’s Chapel United Methodist Church, the Church choir and the Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time, Mrs. Ellison loved sewing, knitting and crafts. As an outdoor person, she loved growing flowers in her garden, fishing and crabbing.
Mrs. Ellison is survived by her children, Eddie Ellison and wife, Carol, Perry Ellison and fiancée, Brandy Porter, all of Washington, Tommy Hardison and wife, Tanya of Blounts Creek, Perry Hardison and wife, Lorrie of Chocowinity, Pattie Davis and husband, Baxter of Battery Park, Va.; stepchildren, Ronnie Ellison and wife, Connie, Gloria Crocker and husband, Herbert, Mary Ann Adkins, all of Nashville; sister, Alice Beacham and husband, Kenneth of Black Jack; nine grandchildren, Christina Ellison, Eddie Ellison II, John Gregory, Timmy Gregory, Jay Hardison, all of Washington, Eric Gregory of Cary, N.C., Tina Hardison and Sarah Hardison, both of Blounts Creek, Baxter Wayne Davis Jr. of Battery Park, Va.; granddaughter of the heart, Cheyenne Scherer; six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ellison was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Ellison; parents, Raymond and Beulah Bland; three brothers, Raymond Bland Jr., Eddie Bland, Larry Bland; two sisters, Trilla Taylor and Rita Chauncey; former spouse, Herbert Hardison; stepson, Russell Ellison and daughter-in-law, “B. J.” Ellison.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.
