She was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Max Roebuck of Washington; brothers-in-law, E. Leon Roebuck and E. W. “Tad” Larkin; sisters-in-law, Nell R. Roebuck, Florence S. Roebuck, and Frances R. Larkin, all of Washington. She is survived by her brother, Clifton C. Cutler and sister-in-law, Monna Jay of Chesapeake, Va.
Faye loved her church, First Christian Church in Washington, where she was a long time member of the choir, served as a Sunday school teacher, often arranged flowers for services and events, and was an active member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. For years, she faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels.
On October 1, 1950, Faye married J. Max Roebuck of Washington at Athens Chapel, Bath, NC. They had three children: Deborah Roebuck of Washington; Jane Roebuck Story, and husband Michael, of Raleigh; and William Kenneth Roebuck, and wife Laura of Wilmington. Faye has two grandchildren, Crandall O’Neal Story and Austin Roebuck Story, both of Raleigh.
Faye was a graduate of Bath High School and attended Atlantic Christian College (Barton College) in Wilson. After working with Home Security Insurance Company, she devoted her time to raising a family and serving others. She worked many years in the Brown Library Career Services Office and with visitors to the library.
Faye loved her children, grandchildren, family, and friends and was most happy when she could spend time with them. She frequently and willingly shared her talents as an avid gardener, flower arranger and cook.
Faye was a long time member of the Carrollton Book Club. She made a lifetime commitment to correspond with relatives and friends through the mailing of hand-written letters and cards.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church Building Fund, 401 East 2nd Street, Washington, N.C. 27889 or the Marion Shepard Cancer Center, Washington.
Faye’s family thanks Donald Hopkins for faithfully loving and supporting her as his “Mama”. The family also thanks her care team family: Nohemi “Mimi”, Phyllis, Connie, Carolyn, Flor, Jennie, Marie, Merari and “Little Alex” for assisting with her care these past couple years; as well as the Marion Shepard Cancer Center, Ridgewood Manor; Aseracare Hospice and Paul Funeral Home in Washington.
