Mr. O.C. Bennett Jr., 89, formerly of Aurora, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Royal Oaks Nursing Home in Titusville, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Aurora United Methodist Church, Main Street, Aurora. The Rev. John Yount will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall, immediately following the service.
Mr. Bennett was born in Aurora on Dec. 10, 1925, son of the late Ottis C. Bennett Sr. and Elsie Smithwick Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was pre-deceased by his wife of 69 years, Eudora Stewart Bennett.
He is survived by his son Dail S. Bennett and wife Cheryl of Merritt Island, Fla., and grandson Peter C. Bennett of Cocoa, Fla. He is also survived by his nephew Frankie Day and wife Guylene, his niece Peggy Cayton, several grandnieces, and his favorite dog “Dotty.”
O.C. Bennett Jr. was retired as heavy equipment superintendent at Texas Gulf Sulphur, Aurora. He enjoyed riding, bird hunting and training bird dogs. He was the co-owner of Can’t Miss Shooting Preserve and Bennett’s Kennels in Aurora.
