Gloria Jean Carawan, age 67, a resident of 202 River Run Apartments, Chocowinity, died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Core Point Chapel, 6847 Core Point Road, Blounts Creek. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ms. Carawan was born in Newport News, VA on October 29, 1948, the daughter of the late Willie Junior Carawan and Ola Evelyn Jones Carawan. She attended Aurora High School. Ms. Carawan worked in many retail industries as a sales clerk. She enjoyed puzzles and was an avid watcher of the Steve Wilkos Show. In her younger years she loved racing cars and going four-wheeling. Ms. Carawan watched soap operas and fished in her spare time.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly White, one son, Jesse Ray White Jr. and his wife, Araceli, six grandchildren, Jesse Lee White, Brianna Rayne White, Michael Justin White, Stephen Kionte White, Jeffrey Ray White and Joshua Tyler White, one brother, Charles Carawan, and one sister, Ann Rouse.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Carawan is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Clark and a sister, Linda Carawan.
