SOUTHSIDE HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK: Southside High School celebrated National School Lunch Week during the week of Oct. 12-16. The challenge of this week was to try something new: "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy," as Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus would say. Specifically, the week focused on social sharing through various social media outlets as a way to engage and excite students about their school nutrition and the team that makes it all possible. The week served as a snapshot of school nutrition at Southside High School. As a part of this "snapshot," a drawing was held to award a student who purchased school lunch on a particular day with a brand new HP 7 tablet donated by Child Nutrition Services. Melissa Leyva Valdez, a senior at SHS, was the lucky winner of this tablet. Congratulations, Melissa, and a big thank you to Child Nutrition Services and the school nutrition team at SHS. Pictured left to right are Demetria Williams, Melissa Leyva Valdez and Dale Cole.
