Ottis Leo Wainwright, 69, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM at the Harvest Church in Washington with Rev Todd Tankerd officiating. Burial will follow at Hardison Mill Cemetery.

Mr. Wainwright was born in Beaufort County, son of the late Ottis Jefferson and Clemmie Lavenia Corey Wainwright. He was a member of the NC Beekeepers Association and the Cashie Beekeepers Association, a farmer and a poultry farmer. Leo loved his dogs and cats and was a genuine animal lover. He also loved to go fishing and UNC sports, his family and the Farm Life Community. He was a member of the Maple Grove Christian Church and Harvest Church of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters-in-law Marie Perry and Gaynelle Latham.

Survivors are his wife Avis Pate Wainwright of the home; sons Christopher Wainwright and wife Robin of Jamesville, and Adam Wainwright and wife Amanda of Wilson; grandchildren Hunter Pate Wainwright, and Brittany, Barry, and Bethany Hollis; sisters Irma Edmonds and husband Bill of Norfolk, VA, Opal Hardison and husband George and Mary Elizabeth Pilgreen and husband Allen all of Williamston; sisters-in-law Millie Stubblefield, Linda MaHalco, and Jean Rogers; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8:00 PM at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Griffins Township Fire Department.
